DTE Energy was established in January 1996. Our name embodies both our heritage and our vision. “DTE” was the stock symbol for Detroit Edison, our founding company, and “Energy” represents our vision to provide integrated energy solutions to customers.
Built on the heritage of Detroit Edison and MichCon, DTE Energy is recognized as Michigan's largest energy company, a premier regional energy provider and a national provider of energy-related services.
For more than 150 years, Detroit Edison and MichCon have served the homes and businesses of Michigan. Detroit Edison, founded in 1903, is the largest electric utility in the state. MichCon, founded in 1849, is one of the nation's largest natural gas distributors.
